Grazing and cutting management

For best results, rotational graze or strip graze forage sorghum and apply 50-100 kg/ha of Nitrogen after each grazing or cutting. This will ensure quicker regrowth whilst maintaining productivity and forage quality.

Optimise regrowth

  • Use a front and back hot wire when strip grazing as this will assist the previously grazed area to regrow (see Figure 23).
  • Remove stock before the crop is grazed below 15cm, then allow crop to grow to 80cm in height before cutting or grazing again.
